New audio sample: Right Here Now v2.0
Michael Logue and I have put in some more hours on Right Here Now, the track we are submitting at the end of this month for the Lilith Fair Contest on OurStage.com. Give this new version of Right Here Now a listen and let us know your thoughts here on my blog. Last time we posted a sample, we got some great, practical feedback from Barry Friedman (shorten the intro.) and Julie Maria Madrona (less reverb on the vocals). Thanks for listening and sharing the production process with us! Here is the new sample of Right Here Now (version 2):

Lyrics to “Nothing’s Wrong” by Catherine Scholz
Nothing’s Wrong
Music and lyrics by Catherine Scholz
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right.
I think I’ll sleep on the floor tonight.
In the dark, there is a place
where a labyrinth was once a maze
where dreams were born and dreams have died
I lay me down to sleep tonight.
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right,
Good night.
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right,
I think I’ll sleep with the stars tonight.
In stellar arms, in Love’s embrace,
I’ve got the moon to stroke my face.
I know I’ll find another rhyme
and some peace for this heart of mine.
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right,
Good night.
(optional 3rd verse)
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right,
I think I’ll sleep with this song tonight.
This tender heart wears no disguise,
and thankfully, Love never dies.
Like the sun, when on the rise,
I will return to the open skies.
Nothing’s wrong,
nothing’s right,
Good night.
Lyrics to “Pearl” by Catherine Scholz
Pearl
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz
So you’ve added up the figures
and counted all the costs.
but a shade of memory lingers
as the dew becomes the frost…
A love of no undoing
has caught you in its web.
Would you like to keep on crashing
Or brave the waves instead?
You’re a pearl – I will meet you by the ocean
You’re a pearl – I’ll be standing by the sea
You’re a pearl – I will meet you by the ocean
You’re a pearl -Meet me in D.C.
Now it’s time to make some choices,
pick your heart up from the floor,
put the sordid past behind you,
chase those ghosts back from your door.
You’re a pearl – I will meet you by the ocean
You’re a pearl – I’ll be standing by the sea
You’re a pearl – I will meet you by the ocean
You’re a pearl -Meet me in D.C.
Lyrics to “Butterfly” by Catherine Scholz
Butterfly
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz
I am a butterfly
sailing on the wings of night.
This is how I fly.
Up above the city lights,
far beyond the rain.
I caress the sky.
This is how I fly.
I am a butterfly
sailing on the wings of night.
This is how I fly.
There’s no peace like I feel inside,
I’m far beyond the pain.
My love fills up the sky.
This is how I fly.
I am a butterfly
sailing on the wings of night.
This is how I fly.
Through the struggle I fight.
But look how much I’ve gained.
Don’t have to know why.
This is how I fly.
I am a butterfly
sailing on the wings of night.
This is how I fly.
Lyrics to “How does it Feel” by Catherine Scholz
How Does it Feel?
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz
How does it feel to be whole?
How does it feel to be whole?
To stop the world just to listen to your soul,
becoming whole.
How does it feel to be found?
How does it feel to be found?
Walking alone or just standing on the ground,
you will be found.
(instrumental)
How does it feel to be you?
How does it feel to be you?
There is nothing in this world I would not do,
my friend, for you.
How does it feel to be free?
How does it feel to be free?
Wish you were here standing right in front of me,
feeling free.
(instrumental)
Lyrics to “Cactus Flower” by Catherine Scholz
Cactus Flower
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz
Honey, I’m just sittin’ here thinkin’ on you.
Funny, I wasn’t expecting to feel so blue.
But darlin’ you’ve got me eatin’ from the palm of your hand.
I’m just pinin’ like a cactus flower in the desert sand.
Now when I said I love you, I did not lie.
Did you mean it when you said goodbye?
Honey, I’d be so tickled if you’d knock on my door.
Funny, I guess I’m not your sweetheart anymore.
But darlin’ you’ve got me eatin’ from the palm of your hand.
I’m just pinin’ like a cactus flower in the desert sand.
Now when I said I love you, I did not lie.
Did you mean it when you said goodbye?
(instrumental verse)
Honey, you’re shoulder’s colder than the Brainerd snow.
Funny, I never thought I’d have to let you go.
Cuz darlin’ you’ve got me eatin’ from the palm of your hand.
I’m just pinin’ like a cactus flower in the desert sand.
Now when I said I love you, I did not lie.
Did you mean it when you said goodbye?
Now honey, I’m not fixin’ on someone new.
Funny, all I’m thinkin’ ’bout is loving you.
Cuz darlin’ you’ve got me eatin’ from the palm of your hand.
I’m just pinin’ like a cactus flower in the desert sand.
Lyrics to “Movin’ On” by Catherine Scholz
Movin’ On
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz
Rain is falling, I’m movin’ on.
Oh my soul, the time has come.
Oh my soul, the time has come.
Placed my heart into your hands.
Oh my soul, it understands.
You came to me quickly.
You caught me mid-air.
You loved me so neatly.
And now you’re not here to see me fly.
Rain is falling, I’m movin’ on.
Oh my soul, the time has come.
Love is all around.
Oh my soul, should know by now.
You came to me quickly.
You caught me mid-air.
You loved me so neatly.
And now you’re not here to see me fly.
Rain is falling, I’m movin’ on.
Oh my soul, the time has come.
Love is all around.
Oh my soul, should know by now.
Oh my soul, should know by now.
Lyrics to “President” by Catherine Scholz
President
Lyrics and music by Catherine Scholz, 2008
I’m looking for a President
Who knows how to speak his mind
You know I haven’t found one yet
And we’re running out of time.
I’m looking for a President
Who knows what can be justified
This world has gotten so complex
And nothing’s black or white.
What are you afraid of?
What do you desire?
Dive into the water.
Walk through the fire.
I’m looking for a President
Who knows what’s wrong and right.
It doesn’t take intelligence
To order up a fight.
I’m looking for a President
To get this planet unified
Don’t matter if she’s black or red
Or even left or right.
What are you afraid of?
What do you desire?
Dive into the water.
Walk through the fire.
